Isuzu’s updated 2022 Isuzu D-MAX 1-tonne Ute range has officially arrived, welcoming a host of updates and refinements based on feedback received from customers and the media over the past year.

D-MAX Highlights

Isuzu UTE Australia’s (IUA) updated 2022 (22MY) Isuzu D-MAX 1-tonne ute range has officially arrived, welcoming a host of updates and refinements based on feedback received from customers and the media over the past year.

Originally due to arrive in Dealerships in the first-quarter of 2022, the updated 22MY D-MAX range will be available from 1st December 2021, with the entry-level 1.9-litre D-MAX SX Single Cab Chassis 4×2 following shortly after, in early-January 2022.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our updated 2022 D-MAX range to our Australian customers earlier than initially forecasted. Fast-tracking its availability ensures we get the improved product and a wider variety of options into market sooner, which essentially helps to improve customer satisfaction—which has always been a priority to us,” said Isuzu UTE Australia Managing Director, Hiroyasu Sato.

“Our focus on customer satisfaction by listening to customer and media feedback has led to the development of the 2022 D-MAX updates, with enhancements across the range, increased GCM of 6,000kg on 4×4 models and the expansion of our cab chassis range to include the LS-M and LS-U, which are all customer-centric developments.”

SIX NEW D-MAX VARIANTS

Updated with six new variants, the 22MY Isuzu D-MAX ute range offers one of the widest selections of body styles, tray-configurations and powertrain options available across the Australian 1-tonne ute segment.

Streamlining the range to focus on customer needs, expectations and consumer trends, the D-MAX SX Space Cab Ute 4×2 Auto and D-MAX SX Crew Cab Ute 4×4 Manual have been discontinued for 2022.

SX Single Cab Chassis 4×2 with 1.9-litre RZ4E-TC, available in Manual or Automatic Transmissions
Available from the 1st of January 2022 and priced from $29,990 Drive Away, the new entry-level SX Single Cab Chassis 4×2 will be available with Isuzu’s new RZ4E-TC 1.9-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

SX Space Cab Chassis 4×2 Automatic
For drivers requiring more cabin space, the new D-MAX SX Space Cab Chassis 4×2 Auto joins the 22MY range. Powered by the invulnerable 3.0-litre 4JJ3-TCX turbo-diesel engine, this versatile workhorse adds rear ‘wing’ doors with additional interior space behind the front row and a worksite ready 2,100mm-long alloy or steel tray.

LS-M Crew Cab Chassis 4×4 Automatic and LS-U Crew Cab Chassis 4×4 Automatic
Developed on the feedback from customers, IUA has introduced two new mid-spec Crew Cab Chassis variants to the 22MY range, the LS-M Crew Cab Chassis and LS-U Crew Cab Chassis. Both pair either a 1,800mm-long alloy or steel tray with Heavy-Duty 3-leaf Suspension, Isuzu’s proven 4JJ3-TCX 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, with 4×4 Terrain Command and a rear diff-lock. Combining versatility, high payload capacity and touring and towing credentials, the LS-M Crew Cab Chassis and LS-U Crew Cab Chassis are the perfect option for tradesmen, families and travellers who are looking for a tray-back crew cab chassis to carry gear, tools or to outfit with a canopy for the road ahead.

LS-U+ Crew Cab Ute 4×4 Auto
The sixth new addition to the D-MAX range is the new LS-U+ Crew Cab 4×4 Auto. A step between the flagship X-TERRAIN and LS-U, the LS-U+ adds class and luxury by way of a sumptuous leather-accented interior with variably heated front seats, with the driver’s featuring 8-way electric adjustment with electric lumbar support, along with a host of welcomed additional features.

22MY D-MAX SPECIFICATION UPDATES

With a focus on maintaining a high-level of customer satisfaction, the majority of spec and feature updates across the 2022 D-MAX range have been developed with Isuzu customer feedback in mind.

Increased Gross Combination Mass – All 4×4 models
With more carrying capacity than ever before, the 22MY D-MAX 4×4 range is rated with a Gross Combination Mass (GCM) of 6,000kg, an increase of +50kg over the equivalent 21MY model.

Lane Support System (LSS) Switch – All models
Driven directly by feedback from Isuzu customers, all 22MY D-MAX models now feature a new Lane Support System (LSS) Switch, located on the steering wheel. By pressing and holding the Switch for two seconds, the driver can toggle all Lane Support Systems on-or-off, including Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), and Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK). Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) will still function regardless if the LKAS is disabled via the switch.

RZ4E-TC 1.9-litre turbo-diesel engine – SX Single Cab Chassis 4×2 Manual |SX Single Cab Chassis 4×2 Auto
Available in the Australian market for the first time, the RZ4E-TC has earned its stripes in overseas markets for its supreme fuel efficiency and refined and quieter operation. Generating 110kW of power and 350Nm of torque, official fuel consumption figures returned 7.0 litres/100km during ADR 81/02 combined cycle testing, with CO2 emissions returning 183g/km for the manual and 184g/km for the automatic. Equipped with a 76-litre diesel fuel tank, this new variant is capable of travelling close to a 1,000kms between fuel-stops.

Engineered for the worksite, carrying capacity remains a strong focus for the RZ4E-powered SX Single Cab Chassis 4×2, with heavy-duty 3-leaf suspension, a payload capacity amounting to 1,405kg for the Manual and 1,380kg for the Auto and a large selection of 2,550mm x 1,777mm (Length x Width) alloy or steel rear tray options. Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) remains at 3,000kg—the same as the rest of the 4×2 D-MAX range. Gross Combination Mass (GCM) totals 5,300kg for the Manual and 5,500kg for the Auto. Braked towing capacity for the Manual and Auto is rated at 2,800kg and 3,000kg respectively, with both models rated to tow 750kg unbraked. Coupled with the Isuzu’s Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS) with new Lane Support System (LSS) Switch and the latest in smart-phone connectivity with Android Auto™ and wireless Apple CarPlay®, the D-MAX SX Single Cab Chassis 4×2 is set to remain as one of the industry’s most economical, cost-effective and practical choices of fleet, tradesmen and small business operators.

Fitment of the tow bar receiver simplifies and streamlines the ordering process for customers, which in turn better meets their customer needs and expectations. During the order process, customers can tailor their towing kit to their specific needs, with an optional 7-or-12 pin plug, Anderson plug, electronic brake controller, tow tongue insert with 50mm ball and weight distribution hitch—all available from the Isuzu UTE Genuine Accessories catalogue.

Alloy or Steel Cab Chassis Body Style – LS-M Crew Cab Chassis | LS-U Crew Cab Chassis
Targeted at savvy adventurers, the LS-M Crew Cab 4×4 and LS-U Crew Cab 4×4 is now available in a Crew Cab Chassis body style, and fitted with a hardy 1,800mm x 1,777mm (Length x Width) economy alloy, general purpose alloy, heavy duty alloy or steel tray.

A favourite amongst tourers, caravaners and families, the mid-range LS-U Crew Cab Ute, LS-U Space Cab Ute and LS-U Crew Cab Chassis gains the additional convenience of Smart Keyless Entry with push button start, Walk Away Door Lock (WADL) that automatically locks the doors when the driver walks away, an auto-dimming rear view mirror and a factory-fitted tow bar receiver. LS-U Crew Cab Ute and Space Cab Ute variants benefit from a factory-fitted under rail tub liner, while LS-U Crew Cab Chassis models are equipped with a 1,800mm-long alloy or steel tray.

NEW MODEL – D-MAX LS-U+ Crew Cab Ute

Positioned to slot in between the flagship X-TERRAIN and the mid-spec LS-U, the new 22MY D-MAX LS-U+ Crew Cab Ute, features similar equipment as the 22MY LS-U Crew Cab Ute, but with the addition of premium black leather-accented upholstery and interior trims. Adding a touch more comfort to the package, the front seats are variably heated, with the driver’s featuring 8-way electric adjustment with electric lumbar support. Additional equipment adds convenience and substance, with dual vanity mirror lights, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, heated door mirrors, the Lane Support System Switch, a GCM of 6,000kg and a factory-fitted tow bar receiver and tub liner.

Interior update and Tow Bar Receiver – D-MAX X-TERRAIN

Adorned by many as one Australia’s most feature-packed, stylish and best-value utes, the 22MY X-TERRAIN improves on that philosophy by adding more value, style and substance throughout. Improving on the comfort of the X-TERRAIN, the 22MY iteration adds variable heated front seats, dual vanity mirror lights, auto-dimming rear view mirror and heated door mirrors. The interior is bolder, darker and features more of that X-factor—with a new blacked-out instrument cluster with X-TERRAIN insignia, and tasteful black trim accents across the dash, doors, steering wheel and air vents. New signature X-TERRAIN ‘red’ stitching replaces the white of the 21MY, giving the leather-accented interior a more distinguished finish. Completing the package is the addition of the Lane Support System Switch, a GCM increase to 6,000kg and a factory-fitted Tow Bar Receiver.
